1 yellow onion, sliced
Okra (quantity to taste), sliced and soaked in water for a few minutes
Salt (to taste)
Indian green chili peppers (whole or halved, quantity to taste)
Vegetable oil (as needed)
Optional: 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powderÂ
Prepare the Vegetables:
Wash and slice the yellow onion.
Slice the okra and soak it in water for a few minutes. Drain well before using.
Cook the Onion:
Put a pan on medium-high heat and add a little vegetable oil.
Add the sliced onions and cook until they are softened, stirring occasionally.
Add Spices:
Add salt to the pan and stir well.
Optional: Add 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder and stir to combine with the onions.
Add Okra and Peppers:
Add the sliced and drained okra to the pan and stir to mix with the onions and spices.
Add whole (or halved) indian green chili peppers to the pan and stir gently.
Simmer:
Reduce the heat to low and cover the pan with a lid.
Cook until the okra is soft, stirring occasionally to ensure even cooking.
Serve:
Once the okra is tender and the dish is fully cooked, remove from heat.
Serve hot, as a side dish or main dish with rice or bread.
