6 eggs
2 tablespoons of water
1 ½ cups of granulated sugar
1 13 oz cans of condensed milk
1 14 oz cans of sweetened evaporated milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
3-4 cups of water (more or less will be needed depending on the bowl size used)
Prepare the Flan Mix: Whisk 6 eggs in a large bowl, then mix in 1 can of condensed milk, 1 can of sweetened condensed milk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.
Create the Caramel: In a small pan on medium-high heat, combine 1 ½ cups of sugar and 2 tablespoons of water. Stir until the sugar turns golden and caramelizes, avoiding burning.
Prep the Pan: Grease your flan dish with cooking oil to prevent sticking.
Caramel Layer: While the caramel is still warm, pour it into the bottom of the flan dish. If it cools and thickens, gently reheat it.
Water Bath Setup: Place the flan dish in a larger pot and add water to the pot so it surrounds the flan dish.
Pour and Seal: Carefully pour the flan mixture into the dish with the caramel layer. Cover the dish securely with aluminum foil.
Cooking Time: Heat the pot on the stove over high heat for 15 minutes, then reduce to medium heat for another 30 minutes. Keep an eye on it.
Check for Doneness: Lift the foil to check the flan's readiness, ensuring it's set but still jiggles slightly.
Cool and Set: Allow the flan to cool and set.
Slice and Enjoy: When ready to serve, cut the creamy caramel flan into slices or cubes, as you prefer. Enjoy your delicious dessert!
