4 cups cold water or substitute with milk
3 tablespoons of Rooh Afza
2 lemons, juiced
2 tablespoons of basil seeds (takmaria)
1 tablespoon of Isabgol Boshi (Psyllium Husk)
2 tablespoons of sugar (adjust to taste)
Ice cubes (as needed)
Prepare the Basil Seeds: Add 4 cups of water into a pitcher.
Add 2 tbsp of basil seeds (takmaria).
Add enough water to cover the seeds.
Prepare Isabgol Boshi (Psyllium Husk):
(Optional) In a separate small bowl, mix the Isabgol Boshi (Psyllium Husk) with a few tablespoons of water to create a smooth, thick paste. This helps prevent lumps when you mix it into the drink. Then add the Isabgol Boshi to the pitcher.
OR
Add 1 tbsp of Isabgol Boshi to the pitcher and stir well.
Sweeten the Lemon Juice: In a pitcher, combine 2 freshly squeezed lemons and 2 tbsp of sugar.
Adjust the sugar to your taste preferences.
Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Combine the ingredients: Stir the mixture well to combine all of the ingredients. You can adjust the water quantity to achieve your desired consistency; more water for a thinner drink, less for a thicker one.
Let the basil seeds soak for about 10-15 minutes or until they swell up and become gel-like. Stir occasionally to ensure even soaking.
Chill and Serve: Add ice cubes to the pitcher to make the drink extra cold and refreshing. Stir once more prior to serving!
