2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
1 yellow onion, sliced
3 Indian green chili peppers
1 teaspoon of ginger paste
3 tablespoons of salt
½ teaspoon of turmeric powder (holud)
18 oz of unpeeled shrimp (6 servings)
1 large bottle gourd, peeled and chopped into cubes
2 cups of water
Prep the Pan: Add 1 tsp vegetable oil to a pot, and place the stove on medium-high heat.
Begin Adding Spices: Once the oil is heated, add the following to the pot:
1 yellow onion sliced
2-3 Indian green chili peppers
3 tablespoons of garlic paste
3 tablespoons of salt
3 tablespoons of turmeric powder
18 oz of unpeeled shrimp
Mix the Ingredients: Stir the ingredients together. Place the lid on the pot to let simmer.
Cook the Lao: After the shrimp is cooked fully, add the lao (peeled and chopped into cubes).
Stir.
Add two cups of water (or more for jhol) and put the stove on high heat.
Stir.
Add the lid to the pot and leave on high heat until the Lao is soft.
Then, serve and enjoy!
